Italiani a Galway is a non-profit and non-commercial community with no political affiliation, which aims at promoting Italian culture in the West of Ireland.
Within our remit, we aim at organising open events which highlight cultural aspects of the Italian history. If you have ideas on events that could be organised and wish to join the group click here for more information.
The next upcoming open event will be ITALIAN ART & MEDICINE, which will take place at NUI Galway on June 24th. The event will highlight interlinking aspects of Art and Medicine in Italy between the 18th and the 20th centuries, with oral presentations given by world renowned experts encompassing literature, painting, and wax modelling.
This event will be associated with an exhibition of high definition images of the Cagliari Collection of Anatomical Waxes made by the great wax modeller Clemente Susini at the beginning of the 19th century, and permanently exhibited at the Susini’s Museum of Anatomical Waxes in the Citadel of Museums of Cagliari, the Capital City of Sardinia (click here to access the site of the Susini’s Museum of Anatomical Waxes).
